Resturant Spotlight: Cafe Linea

Cafe Linea in London is one of those restaurants that has been living in my saved Instagram folders for some time. Every now and then, I would check their page and imagine myself in the chic, arcade style dining hall, tucking into a picturesque pastry.

When my mum and I were planning on visiting Chelsea in Bloom this year, I knew this was my chance!

As we cut through Duke of York Square, I could see the queue forming by their door so was very thankful that we’d made a booking, the maître d’ was also relieved on our behalf. As they led us into the main restaurant, I couldn’t help but fall behind, taking in the grandeur of the sweeping ceiling and subtly playful furnishings.

This was a mother-daughter trip that we had talked about for years, and although I lived and worked in the area in my early twenties, we never made it as far as actually attending the Chelsea Flower Show and exploring Chelsea in Bloom together.

It was a week to celebrate, so we excitedly ordered some cocktails.

The grilled chicken Caesar salad was the size of my head and very delicious. We ordered French fries on the side, and they had the perfect crispy-to-fluffy ratio. They were polished off quickly even though our salads were so generous.

As we walked in we had spied the impressive, almost-too-perfect-to-be-real lime meringue pie, so of course we insisted on finishing the meal with a slice (and a coffee to prepare us for our afternoon adventures).

Cafe Linea is one of those spots that I worried was going to feel too posed and Instagram-perfect, but in person, it had charm. The space felt considered despite its vastness, and the staff were genuine and enthusiastic about your experience.

If you can look past the London prices, this is the perfect spot to meet for a catch-up lunch or to host a special occasion meal. It’s jumped to the top of my London lunch-spot list!
