In March this year, I spontaneously bought the much sought-after Fujifilm X100VI digital compact camera. The best purchase decision I’ve made in a long while! It’s been a joy to capture the year on camera. What follows is my favourite ten frames of 2025, accompanied by the music that soundtracked my year.

It’s a different kind of world

Trekking through the jungle paths, the trees finally opened onto paradise beach. Tiny crabs riddled the golden sands, tracing spirals toward the water’s edge. Blue skies, humid heat, island life.
I took this photograph of my family on our first day at Datai Bay – a once in a lifetime trip to Langkawi, Malaysia, staying at The Datai hotel.

If she wants a cowboy…

Summer weeks in Houston, Texas became one of the highlights of 2025. My cousin flew in from Canada, my aunt surprised us from the UK and we celebrated my little cousin’s 18th birthday.
There are many photos from the trip, from days hanging by the pool, my Uncle concocting every cocktail under the sun, delicious food on the Green Egg and daily trips to the supermarket and local malls. Crawfish from H.E.B. (go-to Texan supermarket chain) with a cold beer and a crossword by the pool – my favourite memory.

Loving you ’til I rust

In August, we welcomed our nephew – little Finn. We travelled to Northern Ireland to help out new Mum and Dad for the week. A stretch of good weather prompted a spontaneous dip at a Murlough National Nature Reserve in Newcastle, County Down.
Before plunging into the surprisingly warm Atlantic Ocean, I captured Bobby under the sun – sea breeze in her hair, the Mourne Mountains behind her, seagulls circling overhead.

Our annual Penny (the dog) holiday to Daylesford farm was a special one this year. With my sister and brother-in-law visiting from Singapore, and my parents and Penny in tow, we spent a few days in the Cotswolds.
In recent years, the area has become very commercial – the quintessential English countryside escape. Even so, it does have an inescapable charm. After a few too many pints, I took this photo of my sister and Penny outside The Wild Rabbit, before we cycled back through the fields as the sun set.

Just for a moment, let’s be still

I’m a water baby at heart – lake, river, ocean, count me in. Captured by my sister, this image spoke to a moment of true serenity. On a surprise birthday sunset yacht cruise, we jumped into the warm Indian Ocean just off the coast of Langkawi island.

And we watched the world go by

One of Bobby’s favourite frames from Singapore. A touristy day with my parents, exploring some of the city state’s most iconic spots, including Raffles. Before stopping for a Singapore Sling at the Long Bar, I found myself staring up at a stark blue sky while waiting at the traffic lights. I quickly raised my camera.
There’s something soothing in the contrast between the traditional architecture of the Raffles facade and the modern tower block behind it.

You can call me honey if you want

A much needed getaway nearing the end of a turbulent year. Bobby and I planned a short autumn staycation at Aller Dorset where I think we experienced every season over the two days!
This photograph caught a rare moment of sunshine, just before a downpour. Champagne left over from Bobby’s 30th and an outdoor bathtub made for an unexpectedly cinematic moment.

I wanna live inside your world

A mid-summer Snow Patrol gig in the fields of Gloucestershire estate. This was taken during Bobby’s turn to play with the new camera. After a bit of coaching, I reluctantly became the muse for once.

You are like heaven when it’s late

I couldn’t leave this one out. Taken during my first week with the camera, on Bobby’s 30th birthday, over dinner at Cor in Bristol.
There’s something moody and intimate about this shot that I love.

Spring into summer

A long morning dog walk with Penny over the heath land by my parents’ house. I decided to bring along my camera. Spotting this white blossom, I felt a close up was necessary.
